Synopsis

Robert Harling’s beloved play “Steel Magnolias,” which is based on his
sister, mother and her friends in Truvy’s Beauty Shop in Chinquapin,
Louisiana, will be presented by Clinton County Showcase on March 24, 25,
26, March 31, April 1 and 2 at the Historic Avon Theatre in downtown Breese.
Showtimes are 8 p.m. for the first five performances, and then a 2 p.m. matinee on Sunday, April 2.

Four of the six cast members have spent some of their life in the South, so the accents are real.
“You know this show can make you laugh one minute and cry the next,”
remarked Director Mike Huelsmann, who directed Showcase’s outdoor production of the play in 1995.

The cast includes several newcomers and veterans:

Leslie Beers-Huskins of Breese as Truvy Jones, Jessi Loepker Annell Dupuy-Desoto,
ex-Southerner Kitty Gagen of Lebanon as Clairee Belcher, Jenny Gillespie of
Breese as Shelby Eatenton-Latcherie, former Alabama resident Lynne Huelsmann
of Breese as M’Lynn Eatenton, and Alabama native Betsy Gordon as cranky Ouiser Boudreaux.
